Job Description

Curiosity is the driving force behind the research at the Department of Earth and
Space Sciences and our goals are to find new knowledge about space, our
earth and our future energy supply. Through observations of the
universe as well as earth, we make predictions about the future and
promote sustainable development. To reach our goals, we develop highly
sensitive measuring instruments and observational methods, as well as
advanced algorithms for data analysis and theoretical models.

Information about the research
The Post-doc position is in the Research Group for Space Geodesy and
Geodynamics at the Department of Earth and Space Sciences. The main
interests of the research group are geodynamic phenomena and atmospheric
processes and the improvement of the associated measurement techniques.
We study e.g. the deformation of the Earth’s crust due to mass
redistribution, inter- and intra-plate tectonics, loading effects,
variations in earth orientation and rotation, and the spatial and
temporal variation of atmospheric water vapour. We address these
research topics using a variety of observational techniques and the
corresponding theoretical work. Currently we use geodetic VLBI, Global
Navigation Satellite Systems, gravimeters, tide gauges, and ground based
microwave radiometers. Cooperation with seismologists is established
not least by way of the seismograph station at Onsala Space Observatory.

Our main working places are located there, 40 km south of Gothenburg,
and—secondary—at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg.
