EGU Election Autumn 2017

The EGU Election Autumn 2017 for the next EGU Union President, General Secretary and Division Presidents will take place from 01 to 30 November 2017.

New this year!

Although an election of Division Presidents was held last year, EGU is seeking new candidates for Division Presidents.

The plenary has decided on 24 April 2017, after a proposal from council, that the newly elected Division President (Division President-elect) will serve as Deputy President for the first year, then as Division President for the next two years.

You are kindly asked to propose a candidate to any vacancy by 15 September 2017. You are welcome and encouraged to nominate yourself. If you are nominating someone else, please get the candidate's consent. Please have the information listed in the application form as well as a photograph available when you summit the application.

The elected president will be inaugurated as President-Elect (Vice-President) for one year term (2018-2019) during the plenary meeting of the next EGU General Assembly 2018. The person will then serve as the Union President during two years (2019-2021) starting from the plenary meeting of the EGU General Assembly, and lastly, serve as the Past-President (Vice-President) for one more year (2021-2022).

The EGU General Secretary will be elected for two years (2018-2020). The person will be inaugurated during the plenary meeting of the EGU General Assembly 2018.

The newly elected Division Presidents (Division Presidents-elect) will serve as Deputy Division Presidents for the first year, then as Division Presidents for the next two years. The terms start and end at the Plenary meeting, which is held during the General Assembly. Division Presidents can be elected for a second term and will not serve as Deputy Presidents a second time. Instead, a Deputy Division President will be appointed at the division meeting.
